Winter Stains

As the months get colder, I find one of my biggest problems is finding a lipstick that doesn't dry out my pout or make me feel like a complete flake.

I'm a firm believer in the #SayNoToLipgloss brigade - I'm not 10 and I hate looking as if I just got oiled down by a member of the Jersey Shore cast. So, here are my top picks for lippies which keep you moisturised, confident and don't lose their colour after an afternoon cocktail.

Rouge Edition Velvet from Bourjois!

I recently discovered this AMAZING lipstick after a trip trying out all the samples at the makeup counter at Clicks. I'm often scared of trying out a brand that I've never heard off, in fear of my lips suddenly turning grey or drying out - but, this was probably the BEST mistake I've made in a while.

Think long-lasting, light and with an incredible matte finish! Bourjois have created a soft, sensuous lipstick which stayed on through 3 glasses of Merlot and showed no sign of fading. This one is a winter MUST!

Colorburst Lacquer Balms from Revlon!

These new triple butter complex balms from Revlon, are an update from their old range of matte crayons, and effectively outstay the latter. Think shinier, smoother and with way more moisture than the matte range - plus, you're bound to find a shade that suits your skin tone.

Revlon Lacqeur Balm in Whimsical

I love the fact that the lacqeurs are so versatile - they're light enough if you're feeling rather demure, but 2-3 applications can also give you a brighter finish. And, forget dry lips, as these glossy babies keep you hydrated for hours!

TIP: If you want your lipstick to last a little longer, try applying a concealer on your lips, before putting on lippie. This allows the true shade of the lipstickto shine through, and is great if the summer sunshine darkened out that pout.

WIN with Kate Moss for Topshop!

Kate Moss's new collection for Topshop is basically my new favourite greatest hits album. Think boho-chic, vintage inspired pieces and a dash of designer envy - Kate has kicked off the collection off with a luxurious line of must-haves!

The collection was designed to embody four of the season's hottest trends - pajama dressing, balearic dressing, tailoring noir and cocktail hour - all signed off by Miss Moss herself.

Despite the collection being undeniably trend-orientated, its wow factor lies in the innate presence of Kate's charming personality, and disdain for playing the polished princess.

Each piece reflects an intrinsic part of Kate's personality, which seems to translate to lace dresses, fringe-jackets, decadent bead work, tailored trousers and 70s Bohemia. Personally, this is one of my favourite celebrity collections created for a retailer - the inspiration lies not in Kate's style, but in Kate herself. And, its downright amazing.

The collection will be available at Topshop at Sandton City and the V&A Waterfront (including Edgars in Eastgate, Clearwater, Woodlands, The Glen and Cavendish) on 30 April. Great news for those heading to the V&A Waterfront branch - be the first person at the door at 9am to WIN a R2000 shopping spree!

20-Something Diaries: Jamie Saint

I recently chatted to Jamie Saint - SA DJ, former 5FM extraordinaire, resident DJ on Hectic Nine 9 & all-round Gen-Y baby.  I love being around 20-somethings who know what they want, do anything to get it & spread a little creativity wherever they go.

Jamie is one of those rare individuals who is just so darn down to earth, never toots his own horn and is always up for anything that allows him to live his dreams.

May: Describe yourself in a sentence.
Jamie: A white thug.

May: Who is your style icon and why?
Jamie: I take my style cues from alot of different people, but I really dig a artist call Jay Ma! He's got a cali style that I like.. Flatpeak hats and vests!

May: Describe your personal style?
Jamie: My personal style is always changing. I love high tops, v-necks and flat peak caps, but I'm not afraid of a good button up shirt.

Jamie: My silver ring which I wear all day, every day.

Jamie: My perfect date.... this is a hard one! I rate just a cool night of doing things that weren't planned.

May: Who's the one artist you can't stand?
Jamie: I would rather skip this haha.

May: Which 5 items should all men own?
Jamie: Men should always own a great watch, a good after shave, a decent cap, a pair of shoes you can wear out & during the day, and good pair of sunglasses.

May: What inspires you?
Jamie: My audience's passion for music!

May: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I would love to have my feet firmly in South African radio.
