"For the showgirl in all of us"

16 years and it's over. My aunt sent me an email yesterday with the headline "Marc Jacobs leaves Louis Vuitton"

It's only fitting that my favourite dynamo performed his last rights at the fashion powerhouse with gusto, theatrics and hidden symbolism - Marc is never one to shy away from over-the-top glamour!

His last show for Louis Vuitton was exactly what I love about fashion - he took you on a trip through his past, present and future - it was dramatic, intense and sparkled in all the right places.
Marc would never go quietly. Obviously. The spectacle was an amalgamation of some of his most memorable shows. The all-black set featured an escalator, a caged hotel elevator, a fountain and even a carousel.

Nostalgia and sensitivity were rife - you could compare it to a Greatest Hits album from a band about to break up. No tissues here. Marc gave his final performance with his trademark hunger to shock in all the right places

The collection incorporated boyfriend jeans, jeweled pea coats, ruffled pencil skirts and corseted trousers.

Marc created the collection for the showgirl in all of us. A bit of biker chic. Part-time seductress. The pieces may not be for everyone, but I personally loved it.

Fashion is not for the weak-hearted. Sweep away your insecurities and let it ravage you.
