We all scream for..Froyo?

Shall I compare thee to a Summer's Day? William Shakespeare hit just the right spot when he whispered sweet nothings about hot Summer days.

Well, this is sort of how I feel about frozen yogurt

Frozen yogurt. Froyo. It's like a party in your mouth without the hangover. Perfection on a raging Summer's day, while you try your best to hustle your way into a 1 piece.

So, what happens during Winter when the sun starts to resemble a crafty lover intent on playing hard-to-get?
Can froyo survive the chills and heartache of the mid-season slumber?
After several sessions spent frolicking in guilt-free dairy at Myog Frozen Yogurt in Kloof Street?

Yes.
Hell, yes.

Co-owner Joris
Myog Frozen Yogurt has become a go-to spot on trendy Kloof Street, and caters to health nuts, car pool moms, runway lions and hipsters alike. I suppose that the eclectic clientele, combined with the frozen treats on offer, is what makes Myog so delightful.

The shop is stripped of the brightly coloured pieces of plastic that most froyo bars have recently adopted. Instead, you are greeted by faux green grass, washed out tables and a laid-back soundtrack that forces you into an eco-friendly daze.
French born owners Joris and Jean-Eric have been friends for 10 years, and opened Myog after visiting on holiday. Seductive Cape Town wooed the two into turning it into their home, and the rest as they say, is froyo history. The popularity of Myog might be due to the fact that they never compromise on quality (or it could be the charming owners).

Now, let’s get to the good stuff - the froyo. Being 98% fat free, Myog is most probably the best date you’ll ever have - no regrets and no over thinking. The flavours change on a weekly basis, and you can choose from mixed berries, cinnamon, coconut, coffee, peanut butter, rooibos, or play it safe with natural. My favourite bit is definitely the toppings! Fresh fruit, chocolate balls, white buttons, mixed nuts, coconut – always good to the keep your options open, as I say.

Myog has a range of treats on offer for the chilly, Winter months. I tried the ‘Yoffee’, which is simply coffee, topped with a dollop of frozen yogurt - pretty damn perfect for those with a caffeine addiction.

Myog is really just about keeping things fresh, simple and healthy. Although, Joris says that they have had a few strange flavour requests – Amarula froyo topped with biltong, anyone?

Winter specials : Double stamps from 9am til noon. Or, try the breakfast duo: 1 medium froyo & toppings OR a parfait  + a hot chocolate OR  a Yofee for R45!

Don't let Winter harass those legs

Cold, Winter nights usually translate to unkept hair, legs that haven't seen a razor in weeks and mounds of popcorn spilling out the covers. I woke up drool faced this morning, and the sudden realisation hit me - I'm morphing into a Winter sloth.

Okay, perhaps I haven't exactly been vegetating 24/7, but the raging fear of one day waking up to a dying pot plant and Diet Coke next to my bed is a constant worry.

So, I've made the decision to enter into rehab for the socially repressed. No coercion. No pressure. Sort of like a purity ring, with the promise of a shindig every now and then - perhaps even a hoedown if I'm feeling raunchy.

I'll never turn down the opportunity to scream "The South will rise again" with a spontaneous "Yee Haw" every two minutes.

Winter, I'm coming for you.

Pop by It's a House to satiate your hunger for the free thinkers, the creatives, and to immerse yourself in it's 'bespoke lifestyle'. Free your mind.

The cool part is that you don't need to dress up, in fact dress down - the colourful collection of people which gather here will appreciate your mismatched socks. Trust me.

It's a House is currently running their 'Bad Movie Nights', with screenings of hilariously bad movies. There's popcorn, soup, hot chocolate and a great reason to catch up on 'something so bad, that it's good'.

Still not sure whether this is for you? All the money made at the door goes to charity. Enough said. Visit them on Facebook here: ItsAHouse

Young Ones Rejoice - Topshop SALE coming!

Everyone's new favourite hotspot Topshop is giving the young ones of SA a reason to kick off their heels on Youth Day, with a discount from 15-16 June.

All you have to do is bring along your student card, sign up for the 10% discount and shop your way through this season's must-have items!

Plus, you can also get you nails done with free nail art from 10am until 4pm. My nail beds have decided to go on strike due to sheer Winter neglect, so I plan on heading my way to the fashionable freebies this weekend.

Oh, and my favourite part about Topshop, and its love affair with the month of June?

The Topshop SALE starts on Wednesday 19 June from 10am. Drool.

Work the Trench

Sleek & sophisticated in Winter? Nothing conveys Winter fashion quite like a classic trench coat - keep warm and avoid the bulked up package, which often comes with one-layer-too-many.

Just remember what your general body shape is! I never followed this key point, which I suppose is why trench coats used to make me feel like I had drowned in an oversized tent. Now that I've learnt that I'm a pear (N.B. I hate pears with a passion), it's been far more fun dressing up in something warm and fuzzy.

Chow Down For Less

We've all been to that dark and dreadful place - pockets that empty out and a bank balance that deserves some loving.

Cereal for breakfast, lunch and supper. Boxed wine. 2min noodles when you really feel like splurging! Okay, perhaps I'm giving into my flair for the dramatics and my Thespian counterparts - but wining and dining really can blow the budget these days.

Take a look at my picks for eating out when the Winter chills and pinched pockets hit:

Get concert ready in a FLASH.

If you're one of the lucky ones then you're probably heading to one of the much hyped about concerts  coming our way very, very soon. Not sure what to wear? Determined to steal the Bieber's heart OR just keen for some mature man candy with Bon Jovi?

I've got a few ideas of what you could wear - Winter warmers in May never looked this schweet!
